Arabic translation of the
Planetary Hypotheses
(Ὑποθέσεις τῶν πλανωμένων, كتاب الاقتصاص) of Ptolemy (Claudius Ptolemaeus; c 90-c 168).
The work is divided into two books:
Book One (المقالة الأولى, ff. 81v-92v);
Book Two (المقالة الثانية, ff. ).
The original Greek text of Book Two is lost.
Book One begins (f. 81v, lines 4-6):
المقالة الأولى من كتاب بطلميوس فس الهيئة المسمى بالاقتصاص
قال بطلميوس إنا وصفنا يا سوري في الأقاويل التي وصفناها في الأمور التعليمية
وأثبتنا ذلك بقياس برهاني ...
