Red de Bibliotecas y Archivos del CSIC

CSIC Library and Archives Network is a centrally coordinated structure consisting of 57 research libraries and 19 scientific archives as part of the CSIC Scientific Information System. Its primary mission is to select, organize, disseminate and preserve scientific information resources in support of research at CSIC institutes. The network makes its massive collections, including more than 1.8 million monographs, more than 571 thousand e-books and tens of thousands of journals, as well as more than 140,000 archival documents, available through the country's largest unified catalogues; These services are also delivered to centers that do not have libraries with the "100% DIGITAL Plan". While the network preserves cultural heritage with comprehensive digitization projects accessible through the Simurg portal, it also strongly enforces the institution's open access policies through the DIGITAL.CSIC corporate archive. The management, automation of this entire network, the Virtual Library (e-resource access) and the modernization of services are provided by the Unit for Scientific Information Resources for Research (URICI), which evolved from the PRIBIC automation plan in 1984 and was established in 2011 and currently has offices in Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia.
