Lives In Turkish

"Lives in Turkish", conducted by Boğaziçi University's Department of Translation Studies, is an ongoing research and digital humanities project that aims to create a comprehensive bibliography of biographies published in Turkish from the early 1800s to the present. This database covers both Latin, Ottoman, Greek and Armenian alphabet texts published before and after the Alphabet Revolution (1928); In addition to copyrighted works written in Turkish, it includes translated biographies, traditional life writing types (tazkire, menakıbname, etc.) and modern biographies. With detailed metadata and data visualization methods (maps, network graphs) compiled from digitized online library catalogs and archive documents, this platform offers an innovative and indispensable open access resource for researchers who want to examine the historical development of the biography genre in the Turkish literary system and the dynamics of translation history.
