Biblioteca Nacional de España
It was founded by Felipe V in late 1711 and opened its doors as the Royal Public Library in March 1712. Under royal prerogative, the forerunner of today's legal compilation system, printers had to deliver a copy of books printed in Spain. In 1836 the Library ceased to be royal property and was subordinated to the Ministry of Internal Affairs; It was also named the National Library (Biblioteca Nacional) for the first time.
