Biblioteca nazionale centrale di Firenze

BNCF (National Central Library of Florence) is the principal institution tasked with collecting, preserving and documenting Italy's national historical memory. Its core mission is to support the advancement of society through the transfer of knowledge. In this regard, it creates and constantly improves the National Archive of Italian Publishing Production by collecting all kinds of documents produced in Italy or published abroad about Italy through legal deposit, purchase and donation. It preserves this valuable heritage it has collected for future generations by applying physical restoration and comprehensive digitization policies. The library leads national bibliographic services by producing the Italian National Bibliography (BNI) to make its collections actively accessible and promotes this heritage through exhibitions, publications and conferences. It also leads the Italian library system by playing a central role in the development of the National Library Service (SBN), researching cataloging techniques, organizing training and developing international collaborations.
