Turkish writing, in red ink frames, from the early years of the 17th century. of his accession, i.e. the year 918 AH (1512-1513), as indicated by two chronograms, one in Turkish, the other in Persian, which are read on the recto of the eighth leaf, and the terms in which the author expresses himself in his final chapter (folio 62 verso), where he says that he began his Khosrau and Shirin on the first day of the month of Ǧoumada first of this year 918 (July 15, 1512), and that he finished it on the first of the two festivals, that is to say the first day of the month of Shavval (December 10), with a velocity which explains his negligence; the ليلى و مجنون, novel of the loves of Leïla and Meǧnoun, in mesnevis verse (folio 64 verso), without title or author's name, by the same Ǧelili; the poet, during a long chapter where he rhymes the praises of a sovereign whom he does not name (folios 69 recto-71 verso), says in fact (folio 71 verso) that his name is Ǧelili, and that he undertook the writing of this mesnevi, the Leïla and Meǧnoun, after having sung the loves of Khosrau and Shirin, that is to say after that he had completed the previous poem (folio 71 recto), which is confirmed by the final chapter, in which, in particular (folio 128 recto), the author says that he completed it in the last decade of the month of Zilhiǧǧa of the year 919 of the hegira (end of January 1514), and that we read there 2145 verses (folio 128 recto). We find, in the margins of the manuscript, the كل كلزار "the Rose bush of the parterre", otherwise called the كل صد برك بيخار "the Rose bush with a hundred leaves without thorns", collection of a hundred minor poems, by Ǧelili (folio 3 verso), with a preface in mesnevis verse, in which the author gives a lyrical description of spring, of the joy that its arrival causes in the flowerbed, of the pleasure that the rose feels in hearing the song of the nightingale; there are around a hundred ghazels, hence the name of the work, mukattaʿat, chronograms, all relating to the beginning of the reign of Selim I, enigmas composed in imitation of Ğami, some of these pieces towards the end, being written in Persian; the بحر نامه, or ,خزان نامه lyric poem, in mesnevis verse and in ghazels, by this same Ǧelili, who declares to have composed it in the year 915 of the hegira (1509-1510), after the "Rosier with a hundred leaves without thorns", under the titles which have just been indicated (folio 89 verso). We read, on the recto of the first leaf, a kitʿa on the Khosrau and Shirin of Ǧelili.. Gaulmin.. Turkish binding, in stamped and gilded black leather.
