Notes
Other file(s) linked to this institution: FRBAMCCFR-000060-01b.xml. Writings by various hands, the last of which is dated to the second decade of the month of Safar in the year 1122 AH (April 11-21, 1710). According to Haği Khalifa, Mohammed ibn Mustafa bore the nickname Dashishi دشيشى, from which his dictionary received the title لغة دشيشيّه, which is written on the edge of the volume. The dictionary itself is preceded by an introduction on the idiosyncrasies of the Persian language; it is classified according to the order of the last letter of the words, then according to the order of the first in each of the sections thus constituted; among his sources, Haği Khalifa cites the el-Bahr, the el-Vasile, the Loghat of Niʿmet Allah, the Dakaïk el-hakaïk, but it is visible that he consulted many others, especially Persian works, from which he took his quotations from the poets, Shems-i Fakhri, Asadi, ʿOnsori, whom he certainly did not know directly, Firdausi, Nizami, Kemal Isfahani, etc. ; this work is the best Persian-Turkish dictionary in existence, and the most complete. Turkish binding, in stamped red leather.
