FRBAMCCFR-000060-01a.xml Other file(s) linked to this institution:. Neskhi, from the middle of the 19th century. Tarim, go and seek their teachings. The author of this translation is unknown; it is dedicated (folio 6 recto) to Sultan Mourad III (982-1003 AH = 1541-1595); the date of composition of the Persian original is placed in the last years of the 15th century; it is spoken, on folio 52 verso, of the year 900 of the hegira (1494-1495) as being the one in which the author wrote, and in which the son of Kin-taï Khan اوغلى كين طاى خان reigned. This unusual expression of اوغلى كين طاى خان, because we would expect كين طاى خان اوغلى, translating پسر كين طاى خان, with the mention of the year 900 AH (1495), refers to the eighth houng-či year of Hiao Tsoung (1488-1505), grandson of Emperor Ying Tsoung (1436-1449, 1457-1464); kin-taï represents the very exact transcription of the name of the years of reign of King Ti (1450-1456), brother of Ying Tsoung, whom he succeeded, when this mediocre sovereign fell into the hands of the Mongol prince Yesen, and was named "honorary emperor"; from which it follows that Hiao Tsoung is the great-nephew, and not the son, of the emperor who reigned during the King-Tai years; which also shows that the Persians, as happened in the West for the Taï Thsing, knew the Sons of Heaven by their year names, and not by their temple names; the date of 900 is repeated on folio 65 recto, while we find that of 950 (1543-1544) on folio 27 verso, and that of 990 (1582), in figures, on folio 28 recto. The date of 950, written in letters, is the reading of ٩٥٠, incorrect spelling of the date ٩٠٠ “900”, with the constant confusion of ٥ and ٠; 990, in digits ٩٩٠, is a double mistake, for ٩٥٠ “950”, coming from ٩٠٠ “900”. Verses from Zahir ed-Din Faryabi and ʿAttar are cited in the text of this work.. Schefer.. Turkish binding, in brown leather.

This book is divided into twenty chapters, the details of which are given in its preface, on folios 11 verso-18 verso, where it is said that this Khitaï name was translated from Persian, according to a work which is the one in which the kings of Khita, that is to say of China, of Khotan and of Čin, in other words of Khotan and Western Tarim, seek their teachings.
