Two copies of this work are described in the Catalog of Persian manuscripts, under numbers 946 and 947. The author, in his preface, exalts the qualities of the Arabic language, the knowledge of which is imposed on all Muslims, to achieve an understanding of Islamic truth. The Mokaddimet el-adab is dedicated to the emir Beha ed-Din ʿAla ed-Daule ved-Din Atsiz ibn Khvarizmshah (folio 3 recto and verso); it is divided into five books: the first, devoted to names; the second, to verbs; the third, to particles; the fourth, to the inflection of nouns; the fifth, to conjugation (folios 4-5). The present manuscript contains only the first book, in which there is a vocabulary of Arabic names, arranged according to the order of subjects, and accompanied by their plurals, when they are not regular; the Arabic text is accompanied by an interlinear Persian translation and a Turkish translation..
