Copy made by Pīr Aḥmad ibn Iskandar, in 943 AH/1536. Romance between Hüsrev, the son of the sovereign Medâin Hürmüz, and Şîrin, the niece of the Armenian queen Mihîn Bânû. It is loosely inspired by Niẓāmī's H̱asraw va Šīrīn. It was written by Yūsuf Sinān Kirmiyānī, known by his pen name 'Šayẖī. He wrote it between 1421 and 1430 and dedicated it to Sultan Murad, upon his accession to the throne. Following his death in 832h./1492, his work remained unfinished. The last part of this masnavī, “The Incident of Şîrûye”, was completed and was composed by another poet named Rûmî. C̣emâlî, the poet's nephew, added the eulogy of Şeyhî (f. 237-239) and that of Sultan Murad (f. 239-240v°). Acquired by Auguste Lesouëf, this volume was part of his collection, kept until 1980 at the Smith-Lesouëf Library in Nogent-sur-Marne, then distributed between the different departments of the National Library. Label of the Smith-Lesouef Foundation bearing No. 21 on the lower backplate. Western foliation, in pencil. Claims from a different hand. The claim in f. 55v° does not correspond to the text on the following page, which means that a leaf is missing. No advertising on the pages where the paintings are located, except f. 76v°. Notebooks composed of quinions. Titles in gold ink. The text is presented in a golden fillet frame in the middle of three blue fillets. Ottoman binding in dark brown leather, stamped with a large rectangular plate decoration made up of a head-to-tail repetition of a half-plate with plant motifs. These motifs were then gilded with a brush. The frame is made up of two thin ornamental strips. The dark brown colored contreplats are decorated in their center with a polylobed mandorla with plant decoration with two gilded palmettes edged with gold. The flap spandrels consist of a simple gold line. Same frame and border on the covering, with the central half-mandorla decoration.
