Notes Turkish-French dictionary published in Vienna in 1838 by Artin Hindoğlu, an Anatolian Armenian born in Kütahya in 1780. The author, who does not have much information about his life (Pamukciyan 2003: 73-74), has works especially in Armenian, German, French and Turkish. Treasury-i Lügaten, together with his grammatical studies such as Kitab-ı Sarf and Lugat-i Türkî, a Turkish grammar book with German explanations published in 1829, are his important works. Especially Dictionnaire Abrégé Turc-Français, published in Vienna in 1838, is a valuable work that is far beyond its counterparts in terms of both its method and vocabulary, containing different elements of both languages. Hindoğlu, who was able to look at the language in a multidimensional way thanks to the high level of education he received and his duties as a professor and translator, although he originally created a Turkish-French dictionary, he determined the vocabulary of Turkish within the framework of as wide a range of spelling and meaning as possible. Hindoğlu, who also expressed his admiration for Istanbul Turkish in his other works, also gave a Turkish name to his Turkish-French dictionary and wanted the work to be known as Treasure-i Lügata. In the work, which consists of 518 pages and has 2 columns on each page, the words of Turkish origin are first in their original form and then translated into Latin letters. Thanks to this structure, which is the most original feature of the work, the pronunciation of Turkish words is given in Latin letters, and the work has gained a nature that can even be considered as an Ottoman Turkish dictionary. In this respect, it can be said that it is similar to Meninski's Thesaurus Linguarum Orientalium (Tulum 2011: 5), which deals with the 17th century Turkish vocabulary in detail, among the Turkish dictionaries with Arabic-Latin letters. When the difference in period is ignored, it can be said that although it is narrower in scope, it is more useful in that it focuses on Turkish. For the items that are not of Turkish origin, the French explanation is given after the Turkish equivalent is given. This shows that the work can also be considered, at least partially, as a Turkish dictionary. Especially in this aspect, Treasure-i Lügat is written approximately in the same period by Thomas Xavier Bianchi's Elsine-i Türkiyye ve Franseviyyenin Lügati / Dictionnaire Turc-Français, James William Redhouse's Turkish and English Lexicon, Nassif Mallouf's Türkî ve Franseviyyenin Lügatnâmesi / Dictionnaire. Turc-Français, Charles Adrien, Casimir Barbier de Meynard's Kitâb-ı Dürerü'l-Ummâniyye fi Lügati'l-Osmâniyye/ Dictionnaire Turc-Français, Şemseddin Sami's Kâmûs-ı Fransevî/ Dictionnaire Turc-Français and Galancızâde Hakkı Tevfik's It can be said that it is more successful than other Turkish dictionaries with Arabic-Latin letters, such as Turkish to German Dictionary Book / Türkisch - Deutsches Wörterbuch. In addition, in the work, words, example sentences and idioms are shown with Latin and Arabic letters, and a significant amount of archaic words and words used in Anatolian dialects are also included (Taşkesenlioğlu 2020: 370).
