Notes	Sahafî Mehmed Efendi's (b. 1070/1659-60 - d.) Companion to Hacı Bayrâm-ı Velî's matlaʻli hymn: "My playing has created a song, between two worlds / Be visible to the world, on the edge of the sun". 1146/1733) containing his commentary. Two copies of Sahafî's commentary have been identified, registered at the National Library, 06 Mil Yz A 8035 and the National Library, 06 Hk 169/19. Although there are commentaries of other commentators on Hacı Bayrâm's İlâhî Taksîm (See also Erdoğan- Sağlam 2016: 493-526). Sahafî's work, written on 22 Shawwal 1118/27 January 1707, is the only commentary written in Arabic language. In addition, Sahafî's commentary is, as far as is known, the only Arabic commentary text on an independent Turkish Sufi poem. In the introduction to Sahafî's work; In his hymn, Hacı Bayrâm-ı Velî said words that fell into the genre of lugaz, which should not be disclosed to everyone and were spoken by parents, because those who did not understand these words were left astonished and helpless; He stated that he wrote the poem regarding divine knowledge for the purpose of explaining (commentary). Sahafî annotated the hymn by dividing it into verse-sized pieces. Although he gave the dictionary meaning of some of the words in these verses, he detailed the issues that needed to be explained in the verse, essentially putting Sufi concepts and terminology on the ground, and not being satisfied with a single explanation, he also included the possibility that Hacı Bayrâm might have a different intention than the word(s) in the relevant verse. While applying this method, in order to strengthen his narrative, he often used verses, hadiths, poems and polite words that could help in proving. The commentary attracts attention, especially because it contains many Sufi concepts and content.
