Yakub-ı Çerhî's commentary on the first eighteen couplets and some of the stories, which are the essence of Mesnevi, written by Mevlana Celâleddin-i Rûmî. The work is the second commentary on Mesnevi couplets after Kemâleddîn-i Hârizmî's (d. 836/1433 or 840/1436) Cevâhirü'l-esrâr. Commentator about the reason for writing the work: "Some of the friends and relatives of this weak servant in need of forgiveness, Yakub b. Osman b. Mahmud b. Muhammed el-Gaznevî Çerhî Serrezî, asked me to explain the symbols and signs of the stories in Mesnevi. Even though I was not worthy of this position, I had to fulfill their wishes. Allah is the one who is trusted and trusted." While giving his statements, he states that his other aim is to enable everyone to understand the subtleties of the truths in Mesnevi and to protect them from the wrong evaluations of those who are not competent. Sharih states that Mevlana expressed the pain of separation he experienced through verse and prose, using symbols. Wise people do not want the language they speak to be understood. Because other people do not bear the pain of separation from themselves. Çerhî explains this by saying, "You cannot talk about love in the presence of a carefree person. Because he has no share in the meaning of the word." According to Çerhî, such a style was not used before Mevlana's Mesnevi, and at the same time, this work is an esoteric interpretation of the Quran. Apart from the first eighteen couplets, Çerhî comments on the stories in Mesnevi such as the sultan and the concubine, Sheikh Dekûkî, Sheikh Muhammed Serrezî. He also includes poems from outside Mesnevi. Commentary couplets; With verses and hadiths, the notables of the companions, Cüneyd-i Baghdadi (d. 297/909), Abu Said Ebu'l-Hayr (d. 357/967), Abdullah Ensârî (d. 481/1089), Senâî-yi Gaznevî (d. 525/1131 [?]), Ebu'l-Hasen Early Sufis who influenced Mevlana, such as An-Nuri (d. 295/908), and Ebû Yazid Bistâmî (d. 234/848 [?]), Ebu'l-Hasan Harakânî (d. 425/1033), Bahaeddin Nakşbend (d. 791/1389), Alaeddin Attâr (d. 802/1400), etc. The ney, the subject of the commentary, is a musical instrument and symbolizes the perfect human being in Mesnevi. Hakîm Senâî, who is frequently cited by Çerhî, is one of the first names to talk about the suffering of what and the fire of love. Çerhî draws attention to the relationship between the perfection of man in search of truth and ricalul-ghayb. While the narrator, who is also a representative of Naqshbandi, frequently includes telvin-oriented concepts such as love, sekr, ecstasy, cezbe, he also makes explanations about issues related to seyr u suluk and other Sufi terms when necessary. It was published in Tehran in 1375/1996, together with the Kabul edition (1352/1973). The work was translated into Turkish by Haksever (2009) and Özkan (2015).
