Notes
Dehhânî's lost work. Fuat Köprülü, in an article published in Hayat Magazine, gave the first information about the work based on a note in Karaman history known as the Turkish prose Şikârî Şeh-nâme, recorded in the Millet Library and Darülfünun Library (Köprülüzâde 1926: 4). According to the information quoted by Köprülü from here, the Seljuk ruler Sultan Alâeddîn Keykubâd (reign 1220-1237) ordered a poet with the pseudonym Dehhânî to compose a Persian shahname as a parallel to Firdevsî's Şeh-nâme; Later, Alâeddîn Ali Bey (principal period: 1361-1398), one of the Karamanids, imitated this and had the poet Yarcânî compile a Karaman Şeh-nâme in Persian in the same style, and Şikârî translated this work into Turkish. This information has been corrected in recent research on the life and works of Khoja Dehhânî. Originally, Şikârî's statements regarding Dehhânî's Persian Şeh-nâme are as follows: "One day, in the assembly, they read the Şeh-nâme ordered by Firdevs in the name of Sultan Mahmud. They sang the Şeh-nâme in the name of Meger Sultan Alâeddîn bin Keykubâd-ı Ma'deleddîn. The genius Dehhânî-i master of Keykubâd wrote a Şeh-nâme consisting of twenty thousand couplets. The genius Sultan Alâeddîn of Karamanoğlu said: Master Yarcânî! He uttered six hundred couplets in the name of Idup Karamanli and went to the command of God without any effort, saying "Of course, you will do it and become a great poet..." (Şikârî 2005: 102, Same Edition section 5a-5b). According to these statements, Dehhânî started to write a Seljuk Şeh-nâme by the order of Karamanoğlu Sultan Alâaddîn Ali Bey (d. 1398), after writing the Seljuk period in the name of Sultan Alâaddîn Keykubâd in around twenty thousand couplets, he wrote the Karamanoğulları period in about six hundred couplets, but when he did not survive, the work was completed by the sultan. It was requested from Yarcânî. This work, written in Persian by Yarcânî, was translated into Turkish by Şikârî in the 16th century. Dehhânî's Şeh-nâme of twenty thousand couplets is not available today. For the poet's biography, see. "Hoca Dehhânî".Turkish Literature Names Dictionary.
