The legitimacy of the music, sema', devran and dance performed by Sufis since the early periods of Islam has been a controversial issue. Some scholars argued that these were permissible, and some did not like their execution. In fact, those who engage in music, sema' and devran have even been accused of takfir. The intellectual conflict that occurred especially with the Kadızâdeli movement, which emerged in Istanbul in the 17th century and claimed that it was their motto to eliminate the heresies and superstitions that were said to have entered the religion later, gave way to conflict. The Mevlevis, who followed in the footsteps of Hazrat Mevlana and adopted his understanding of Sufism as their guide, remained at the center of these discussions because they were interested in music and sema. During this period, many scholars wrote works to prove that music and sema were permissible and defended the Sufis. XVII. After the century, some works were written. One of them belongs to Abdülganî en-Nablusî (d. 1731), one of the great scholars and Sufis of his time. Nablusî wrote his work, which he named el-Ukûdü'l-Lü'lü'iyye fî Tarîki's-Sâdeti'l-Mevleviyye, to defend Sufis in particular Mevlevis and to prove that dhikr and rituals such as music, sema' and devrân are permissible. Likewise, Müstakîmzâde, one of the most prominent scholars of the 18th century, translated/commentated this work, defending the Mevlevis and revealing his attitude on this issue. In the study prepared by Manuscript Expert Ensar Karagöz, based on two copies in the Suleymaniye Library (Pertev Pasha 427, Lala İsmail 179), Müstakîmzâde's work on Nablusî's Arabic work called el-Ukûdü'l-Lü'lü'iyye fî Tarîki's-Sâdeti'l-Mevleviyye The critical text of the translation/commentary called Şerh-i İbârât has been presented for the benefit of the scientific world. Moreover, in the introduction of the work, the Kadızâdeli movement and the banning of music and sema were examined in general terms, and Nablusî and Müstakîmzâde's connections with Mevleviism were tried to be explained.
