Notes
A precious copy. God Almighty did not make it easy for the library cataloguers who had previously discovered it, and God made it possible for this weak servant to do so. The evidence for proving the attribution is what the author said in (Q: 29/A): “The compiler said: We have from his letters in his handwriting [i.e., Ibn Aqeel] to Sharaf al-Islam Abd al-Wahhab Jeddi, may God have mercy on him.” The advising author is the grandson of this Sharaf al-Islam Abd al-Wahhab, and it was also mentioned in the author’s translation. His book: “History of Preachers”, and the author mentioned in (Q: 51/A) “This is the last of the preachers and storytellers mentioned in the history of Al-Mutazim by Sheikh Ibn Al-Jawzi, may God Almighty have mercy on him, and whomever we mention after those mentioned, we will specify the place from which we transferred it, and then we will mention after that the preachers we saw, God Almighty willing.” These are two clear proofs of the authenticity of the book’s attribution to the author, and God Almighty knows best. The author arranged the biographies of the preachers historically, and benefited, as appears from the previous quotation, from Ibn al-Jawzi’s book Al-Mutazim fi Tarikh al-Muluk wa’l-Numm, then he benefited from other books that he committed to mentioning, along with what he received from his sheikhs. The copyist did not adopt the annotation system, which apparently contributed to the unorganization of the copy during its binding. The text has some appendices in a pen different from the copyist’s pen, and it does not seem to me that his era is far from the era of the copy. I believe that it is the author’s handwriting, for God knows best.

Until a man from his brothers came and washed him, shrouded him, and they prayed over him, and he was buried in the year two hundred and fifty-eight. Muhammad bin Yaqoub bin Al-Faraj Abu Jaafar, known as Ibn Al-Faraj, was one of the children of the world, and he had a lot of money, so he spent it all on the pursuit of knowledge and on the poor, and he had a position of knowledge and jurisprudence.
