Notes
Verse dictionary written by Refî-i Kâlâyî following the Ottoman verse dictionary tradition. Mehmet Süreyya also shows that he attaches importance to the work by mentioning the poet's Armenian Dictionary in addition to his Divan in his Sicill-i Osmanî (1311: 413). The work, which has a total of 78 couplets, is bilingual, with Turkish and Armenian side by side. The words are mentioned in Turkish and Armenian respectively, without observing a certain order in the poem. The fact that it starts with two religious words such as god and prophet with the line "to god asvas kiristos didiler prophete" is an indication that the tradition is followed. At the end of the poem, Kâlâyî feels the need to say that although he writes such a dictionary, he is not Armenian. In the Ottoman lexicographic tradition, verse dictionaries are generally Turkish, Arabic; It is written in three languages: Turkish, Persian and Arabic, Persian and Turkish, called elsine-i selase. It is the only available verse dictionary written in Armenian, which is a different language, apart from the Turkish-Greek dictionary in Fevzi's Tuhfetü'l-Uşşâkadın and the Turkish-French verse dictionary in Yusuf Halis' Miftah-ı Lisanat. In addition, the 19th century Armenian spoken language in Western Anatolia was recorded with the document at hand (Dankoff 1996: 21). The Armenian-Turkish Dictionary was printed in America by Dankoff, Robert, A. Turgut Kut and J.J.S Weitenberg, using four copies (Dankoff 1996: 199). For the poet's biography, see. "Refî-i Kâlâyî".
