The beginning of the manuscript: Praise be to God (...) The science of meanings, like other sciences, has ten known principles. As for its definition, it is, as the author of the summary said, a science by which the conditions of the Arabic pronunciation are known by which it matches the requirements of the situation. Their specification of the pronunciation in Arabic in the definition said (...) is merely a term, and its implication is that the Arabic language used to deal with these meanings.
The end of the manuscript: Its issues are its propositions, which are required by proof to relate their predicates to their subjects, and their conception is to know them in a general way, by saying, as previously mentioned by Ibn Sina in the issues of semantics, the subject of each issue. As for the subject of knowledge in the abstract, as we say, in this science, the Arabic word is either real or metaphorical, or with a subjective presentation of it, as we say, the word.
