Notlar	About: Clear copy of the commentary by Ibn Ḥajar al-ʻAsqalānī (d.1449) on his own Nukhbat al-fikar fī musṭalaḥ ahl al-athar, a treatise on the technical terms used in the science of ḥadīth, summarizing the work of Ibn al-Ṣalāḥ al-Shahrazūrī (d.1245). \| Shelfmark: Ann Arbor, University of Michigan, Special Collections Research Center, Isl. Ms. 498 Origin: As appears in colophon on p.74, transcription completed 18 Ṣafar 1212 [ca. 12 August 1797]. Accompanying materials: Acquisitions slip from Yahuda. Former shelfmark: From inner front cover and label on lower cover, "IL 389" (likely supplied by Yahuda, see acquisitions slip). Binding: Pasteboards covered in shell marbled paper (in shades of brown, pink, black, yellow, etc.) with green leather over spine (effectively a quarter binding) ; Type III binding (without flap) ; pastedowns and flyleaves in brown paper ; sewn in cream thread, two stations ; overall in fair condition with abrasion, lifting and losses of paper and leather, minor delamination of boards, etc. Support: European laid paper with 9 laid lines per cm.
