Notes Purpose: The question of meaning is a question that has occupied the human mind for many years. In order to answer this question, which is somewhere between philosophy and psychology, many philosophers and psychologists have spent their time and researched to clarify this confusing issue. The present study was carried out with the aim of deep and phenomenological analysis of two questions about the meaning of life. Method: This study is a qualitative research using the method of content analysis, using semi-structured interviews in 5 focused groups with a total of 33 people, to investigate the views of Iranian students in different educational levels and ages about the nature of meaning and how it is formed. The six-step strategy of Brown and Clark (2006) was used to extract themes. Findings: The results of this research in the form of two umbrella themes of "what is meaning and the development of meaning", six themes of "need for coherence, desire for immortality, meaning as a benchmark, subsistence meaning, epistemological meaning, and experiential meaning", and 12 sub-themes of "permanence in the other world, permanence through usefulness, living on the border of everyday life, living in obedience to norms, escaping from Thought and abstraction, fitness and benefit, search for meaning, creation of meaning, expansion of meaning, imbalance, seeking balance and discovery of meaning" have been classified. Conclusion: The results of the study draw a new perspective in order to build educational protocols and packages based on the meaning of life in the student population.
