Work spaces are environments shaped by the socio-cultural, economic and social structure of the period they are in. Nowadays, working spaces are being reconstructed as technology and sustainability change the ways of living and doing business. One of the most effective elements in changing working spaces is the concept of flexibility. Flexible work spaces are designed to strengthen employee communication and support horizontal hierarchy. In flexible working spaces, open office areas are supported by activity-oriented areas and are planned to meet the needs of employees such as work, meetings and teamwork that require concentration. As an indicator of this situation, in today's information and technology age, organizations have started to prefer smart buildings and flexible working spaces as offices. Since the effects of physical environmental design on employee satisfaction and productivity are known, research on the effects of design and environmental quality on employee satisfaction, efficiency and quality of work, specifically in these new types of workplaces, has gained momentum in the world, especially in North America and Europe. However, such studies are limited specifically for workplaces in Turkey. In this study, in order to fill this gap, the flexible working space of a company serving in a LEED certified building in Istanbul was chosen as an example. A post-use evaluation study was conducted based on survey, interview and on-site observation methods. The findings obtained were evaluated in terms of their effects on employee satisfaction in the context of flexible working order, physical environmental conditions and spatial design., Social, cultural, and economical structures shape physical work environments. Today, workplaces are reconstructed according to the effects of sustainability and technology on the form of working. Flexibility is one of the most influential elements affecting the change of workplaces. Flexible workplaces are designed to strengthen the communication and to support the horizontal organizational structure. Open office areas are planned to meet the need for activities such as relaxation, conversation, meeting, concentration, and teamwork. In the era of the knowledge society and technology, organizations increasingly prefer smart buildings and flexible workplaces as their work environments. As a result, there is a growing literature, especially in North America and northern Europe, on the impact of flexible workplace design and indoor quality on employee satisfaction, productivity, and work quality. However, such studies are still limited in Turkey. To fill the gap, this research focuses on a flexible workplace located in a LEED -certified building in Istanbul. A post-occupancy evaluation was conducted in this office. Data collection methods included questionnaires, interviews, and participant observations. The data was analyzed based on the employees' satisfaction from the flexible workplace.
