Praise be to God, who made prayer one of the best acts of worship, affirmed congregation in it, and multiplied the rewards and good deeds for those who perform it. I bear witness that there is no god but God alone, with no partner, a testimony that I reserve for the day of sorrows. I bear witness that our master Muhammad is His servant and messenger, the master of the Sadat... Some of the brothers asked me, may God bless them and grant them forgiveness, to compile a nice explanation of the conditions for the imamate organized by the eminent scholar Al-Bahr, the unique of his time and the only one of his time, the sun of the faith and the religion, and the eraser of the Sunnah of the Master of Messengers, Muhammad. Al-Janzouri Al-Shafi’i, may God bless him, and make Paradise his abode. He pronounces its words and makes clear what they mean, so I responded to him, asking God for help and sincerity, and to let it be a means to the Day of Retribution... He said, may God Almighty have mercy on him. He said, “In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,” which means “to compose,” and the name is derived from sublimity, which is the height. The Most Merciful, because increasing the structure indicates an increase in the meaning.... The compiler asked the Most Merciful for a good ending, because it contains the happiness of both worlds, which is death in Islam, and the word of monotheism. Then he concluded his book with prayers and greetings upon the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, in order for God to accept what came before. He passed on the meaning of prayer upon the Prophet, his family and companions, and what is meant by the Mother of Qura is Mecca from which God sent him, and the Chosen One. Then he thanked God for what he had given and his ability to complete this system, and the meaning of praise was presented. Also, this is the last thing that God has pleased with His grace and generosity, and I ask God to benefit from it as He benefited from its origin, and to make it pure with His noble face. What is required of whoever reads this explanation is to ward off good from evil, and to look at it with an eye of forgiveness and contentment, not with an eye of anger and apathy. It is rare for a work to be spared from mistakes, and for a work to be saved from missteps, and man is subject to error and forgetfulness, especially in this time in which preoccupations and concerns abound. The hardships and anguish were great, so we ask God Almighty to save us from its calamities, and to grant us, our sheikhs, and our lovers a good ending, and to admit us to Paradise with the righteous, without precedent of torment. Praise be to God first and last.
