Notes	Praise be to His Guardian and blessings be upon His Prophet. He said: (And it is arranged in an introduction, three articles, and a conclusion.) This is how we found the phrase in the text in many copies, and what is correct is that the word (three) is redundant here and occurred inadvertently from the pen of the copyist. This is indicated by the author’s statement later on (And as for the articles, there are three) he said: (The first of them is in the vocabulary.) The singular may be used and what is meant by it is the opposite of the dual and the plural, I mean: the one, it may be used and what is meant by it is the opposite of the genitive, so it is said that this is singular and not With a genitive, and it may be used to refer to what corresponds to a compound, and it will be mentioned in the discussion of words. It may also be used to refer to what corresponds to a sentence, so it is said that this is singular, meaning it is not a sentence, and in this sense it also addresses restrictive compounds. What is meant by the vocabulary here is this last meaning.... He said, “Istikasat.” I say, “It is the origin of compounds.” Rather, the four elements are called “Istikasat” because they are the conditions of compounds of animals, plants, and minerals. I know that the use of metaphorical words is worse, as it would lead the mind to other than the intended meanings, were it not for the context, and in sharing there is hesitation between what is intended and what is not intended, but it is possible that the wording may be implied in what is not intended, so it is worse than the use of strange words, since nothing is understood there at all, so the flaw in it is the need to inquire, which lengthens the distance in vain, and his saying: (when knowing it depends on knowing the issues) was completed.
