Glory be to You, O God, O God who directs the surfaces of the heavens without pillars and pegs on the pole and the axis, O who adorns the bodies of the upper ones with constants and directions, and the greater and lesser yoke, and O Creator of the pillars of the lower ones, capable of preparations, the deposits of compositions and images, O Creator of creations, O He who explains the methods, and O who overflows with truths with minutes of inspiration and vision, bless Your Prophet Muhammad, the author of verses, the manifestation of wisdom and miracles, and the landing place of the glorious, luminous Book, and on his family and companions, the successors of religion and the allies of certainty, what a green face. The land is full of plants and flowers. And after: Intellectual proofs and textual evidence have shown that the greatest hope for a human being in terms of perfection and the highest levels of happiness possible for him is knowledge of the Creator by sanctifying himself and exalting his attributes, and that this is through contemplating created things and their secrets, contemplating artifacts and their phases, and knowledge of the form, searching for the heavens and their forms, and discovering the elements and their conditions. I created this in vain, and then the summary, which is labeled as a summary, contains from its roots its rules and from its branches its points and its uniqueness. It combines the brevity of the words with the abundance of meanings, and joins the elegance of the phrase and the confidence of the buildings, so I explained it in a way that makes its secrets clear and the faces of its stories reveal its curtains... (He said) and I made it include an introduction and two articles (I say) and that is because what is mentioned in this book is either intended by itself in this art or the intended one depends on it since the outside. The purpose here is not related to them, the second is the introduction, and the first is either related to astronomical bodies, which is the first article.... As for the lunar year, it is twelve lunar months, and the lunar month is the time of separation of the moon, i.e. a position imposed for it with the sun until it returns to the position, and the moon has different positions in comparison with it, such as comparison and contrast, and others, and the most apparent of these positions is the crescent because in this position the moon is like existing from nothingness and born emerging from darkness, but the sighting of the crescent varies according to the different places, so it was not And he did not pay attention to it except in legal matters. Rather, he made the beginning of the month from the meeting of the sun and the moon until its return to it, not a real meeting due to its lack of discipline, but rather an intermediate meeting, and the time of the month at that time is between the two meetings according to the middle path of the two luminaries, and that is not different, but rather it is controlled by throwing the known middle of the sun from the middle of the moon that is also known and dividing by what remained of the middle of the moon, which is called the precession of the period of the astronomy, which is three hundred and sixty, so twenty-nine and a half days came out between the two meetings, and their total was divided into thirty-one. One minute and fifty seconds of a day if it is divided by sixty minutes, and this number resulting from the division is the amount of the conventional lunar month. Then they multiply that by twelve, so the days of the conventional lunar year are three hundred and fifty-four days and five and one-sixth days. This year is approximately ten days short of the true solar year and twenty and a half hours...
