Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, and God is the Helper upon whom by His bounty He initiated knowledge, and God knows best, Lord of the Worlds, and may God’s blessings and peace be upon our Master Muhammad and his family and companions, and may God’s peace be upon him, praise be to God as the Majesty deserves, • Explicit, folio 40r: This book, called the two words of the Shahada, was completed at the time of the evening prayer on the day of the Sunnah. Perhaps God will confirm his faith and their faith in this world with the afterlife, and God knows best, • According to the colophon the transcription of the text was finished at Saturday night., • Binding note: European-style laid paper with Dutch lion with a sword in a crowned medallion with and inscription of 'concordia res parvae crescunt'. Likely made by Jan, Claes and Aris van der Ley in Zaandik, Netherlands. Dluwang paper used in spine lining and first and last two folios. Leather binding with tooling, with fore edge flap.
Sample Text Part 3 of a multiple-text manuscript, a collective volume of eight texts bound together and written in one hand. Based on the interlinear Javanese translations and marginal comments, and the content of the volume, this manuscript was possibly used by a student as a text book taught in a pesantren (Islamic school) in Indonesia., This is a short description and explanation on the two words of testimony (Islamic creed, Shadahtain, Syahadatain), written in Arabic with no comment or translation.
