Ghiyas ed-Din Ǧemshid lived at the beginning of the Timurid period; he wrote a similar pamphlet for the prince of Fars, Mirza Iskender, son of ʿUmar Sheïkh (d. 818 of the hegira = 1415), after whose death he passed from Isfahan to Samarkand, in the service of Oulough Beg Keurguen, for whom he made numerous observations, which were recorded in the Tables which bear the name of this prince; Moustafa Zaki's translation is dedicated to Ibrahim Pasha, grand vizier under the reign of Soleiman II..
