FRBAMCCFR-000060-01a.xml Other file(s) linked to this institution:. Turkish nestalik, from around 1850. The el-Mevarid el-Meǧidiyye is divided into three volumes, comprising nine chapters, one hundred and twenty-two sections and a conclusion; it is written according to numerous sources, one of which is the وفا الوفا, which is cited at the beginning of volume III; the Vefa el-vefa is the work of Nour ed-Din ʿAli ibn Ahmed el-Samhoudi (d. 911 AH = 1505-1506), who wrote, under the title of الوفا بما يجب لحضرة لمصطفىا, a treatise on the imitation of the conduct of Muhammad and on questions concerning him. This work is different from the description of the holy cities which he composed under the title of الوفا باخبار دار المصطفى, at the end of which he said that he had finished it in Medina, in the month of Ǧoumada first 886 (July 1481); he went, immediately after having finished it, to Mecca, where he learned of the fire of the great mosque of the Prophet, in Medina, which had just occurred during his absence; he inserted the story of this catastrophe in its place, and he put in order the new writing of his history, in Mecca, in the month of Shavval 886 (December 1481); in the year 888 (1483), he added the story of the reconstruction of the mosque, in Medina, where he had returned. It seems that this الوفا was only the summary of a much more important work, the اقتنا الوفا باخبار دار المصطفى; he then abbreviated the el-Vefa, under the title خلاصة الوفا, in which he tells in a slightly clearer way the history of this description of the holy cities, saying that he had composed a great work, the الوفا, which he abridged before having finished it, and which he entitled وفا الوفا; the el-Vefa burned in the fire of the mosque of Medina, but the summary escaped disaster, because its author had taken it with him on the pilgrimage; he shortened this abridgement, to which he added the story of the fire, and he made it the Khilaset el-vefa, which was translated into Turkish by Mohammed el-ʿAshik el-Roumi. The manuscript is preceded by tables of chapters.. Schefer.. Turkish binding, in red leather.
