Notes On the back of the copy was the text: “This is the main explanation of Al-Qari’s Sahih by Imam Al-Bukhari, by the scholar and judge Badr Al-Din Muhammad bin Ahmad bin Musa Al-Aini, named after Ain Tab, a castle between Aleppo and Antioch. He was born in Ramadan in the year 793. He studied jurisprudence and worked in the arts. He excelled. With a dowry, he entered Cairo. He was in charge of hisba several times, judged the Hanafi school, and looked at prisons in one time. This had not been achieved by anyone before him, with the constant reading and speed of writing. Al-Qudduri wrote in one night, and he had several He wrote many works and mentioned them in a book about them. He died in Dhul-Hijjah in Cairo in the year 855 AH and was buried in the famous madrasa in Al-Ainyya near Al-Azhar Mosque, which he built during his lifetime and preached his sermons there. It was written by the poor Mustafa Al-Safawi Al-Shafi’i Al-Qalaawi, may God forgive him his sins and bad deeds. It will be mentioned at the end of the copy in the eleventh part of its composition. This copy is in the handwriting of the author, Professor Al-Ainy, may God Almighty have mercy on him (1141) The date of the composition: (The oath of its author and ruler, the poor servant to the mercy of his rich Lord, Abu Muhammad Mahmoud bin Ahmad Al-Aini, wrote and underlined this part. The twenty-first of Umdat Al-Qari in Al-Bukhari’s commentary, with which the explanation was completed, with God’s grace, help, kindness, and generosity, at the end of the first third of the night of Saturday, the fifth of the month of Jumada Al-Awwal, in the year eight hundred and forty-seven of the Prophet’s Hijra, and it was the beginning. I began writing it at the end of the deaf month of Rajab in the year eight hundred and twenty, and I finished the first part on Monday the sixteenth of the sacred month of Dhul-Hijjah in the year eight hundred and twenty, and I finished the second part on Tuesday the seventh of the month of Jumada al-Akhira in the year eight hundred and twenty-one, and I finished the third part on Friday the eighth of Jumada al-Awwal in the year eight hundred and thirty-three, after I had spent half a year in it, and the gap between the second and third was sixteen years or more, and I finished the fourth on Tuesday. The ninth of Rabi’ al-Akhir in the year eight hundred and thirty-nine, then I continued writing and composing until the aforementioned date of the twenty-first, and the period of my time in writing was ten years with many days interspersed within it, and praise be to God Almighty for this blessing.)
Sample Text Praise be to God who has made clear the aspects of the features of the religion, and made clear the faces of doubt by unveiling the face of certainty... And after that, he suffered the mercy of his abundant Lord, Abu Muhammad Mahmoud Ibn Ahmad Al-Aini... He says that the Sunnah is one of the conclusive proofs and the most clear and shining argument, and it has proven most of the rulings and it is in the orbit of eminent scholars, how could it not be, and it is the saying and deed of the master of the people... and he wrote down in the Sunnah a book that surpasses its likes and excels in its forms... translated in the book of Umdat Al-Qari in Explanation of Al-Bukhari... ...If he does not find a garment, then there is no harm in him parting his trousers other than the place of the hem and wearing a garment, because if he rips it, it becomes like a garment, and God Almighty knows best. The first part of the book Umdat Al-Qari was completed in Al-Bukhari’s explanation by the scholar Mahmoud bin Ahmad Al-Aini, and it is followed by the second part of the beginning of the book on ablution.
