Notes
"Asabiyyah theory" is a prominent term in understanding the intellectual personality of the thinker as well as a key term for sociological analyses. Ibn Khaldun tries to understand the social structure and the main actors of this structure through this theory. Of course, this theory also takes its premises and examples from the society and world it witnesses. In this respect, Ibn Khaldun was first a witness of the Muslim societies he belonged to and then of the world he lived in. The social testimony of the Muqaddimah focuses on the rich materials presented by the living society, including culture, religion and traditions. Daily life and the cultural and intellectual background that determines this life are presented to the attention with all its intensity. French thinkers increasingly attribute a new intellectual personality to Ibn Khaldun due to this approach in which social actors are emphasized more. For these thinkers (J.F.A./F. Clémenet): “Ibn Khaldun is the theorist of unconsciousness.” Accordingly, individuals who form the basis of society acquire habits that they are not aware of in daily life, and this situation gradually becomes their character. In close-up, this character is essentially the result of the unconscious actions of the actors. Thus, people determined by such unconsciousness unknowingly create the characteristics of the society they belong to. In this declaration; a) The effects and functions of the said unconsciousness on all societies in general and the Islamic world in particular, b) The effects of Asabiyyah theory on education systems and socialization processes (personal, social and global processes), c) Ibn Khaldun's position in Turkish and world sociology are opened for discussion.
