In the West, ideas within the framework of Darwin's theory of evolution It shook the established perception that Adam was the first human being and a prophet. These ideas simultaneously found a response in the Islamic world and Hz. Adam's being "ebü'l-beşer" and his prophethood have become controversial among Muslim scholars. According to Darwin's theory, life began from a common ancestor and evolved into different species, eventually becoming humans. For this reason, as reported in the Holy Quran and other existing holy books, Hz. The fact that Adam was the first human being and the ancestor of all humans who received revelation contradicts the principle of common ancestry in modern evolutionary theory. However, although not accepted by modern evolutionists, as an extension of racist theories in the 19th century, claims that each race has a separate origin/father in the process of evolution are also based on the Prophet Muhammad. It makes the acceptance that Adam is the father of all humanity difficult. On the other hand, Hz. Even if Adam was one of the first humans, the fact that he was the first prophet is a problem. Because the first humans, by their nature, lived simply and monotonously, their needs were similar and their desires were few. Humanity must evolve in order to reach prophethood. For this reason, humanity's first messenger, Hz. It progressed until the time of Noah and reached the level where they could understand prophethood and need it in terms of sharia, but only after that, a prophet was sent to them. This comment Hz. It is also compatible with the apparent verses in which Noah is reported as the first messenger. In this article, in line with the ideas of Muhammad Abduh, Hz. The debates about Adam being the first human being and the first prophet are examined and the factors affecting these are tried to be determined. In order to make more accurate determinations, the articles on the subject were presented chronologically and evaluated by taking into account the changes in the Western and Islamic worlds.
