The aim of this study is to reveal the measurable dimensions of encounter experiences by developing a valid and reliable measurement tool that can be used to determine teacher candidates' experiences of encountering differences. In the study, the phenomenon of encounter is considered as a basic experience of humanity. The question on which values the morality of an encounter is based has been considered as a focal question and an effort has been made to open a field of understanding for religious educators so that the values can be functional in different human situations. Deepening one's own faith tradition and knowing others enough to respect them have been defined as the main goal of encountering those who are different. In the ethics of encounter, the human being is a moral subject who encounters, meets, compares and responds. As a result of the developed scale, three basic dimensions of encounter experiences emerged. The first dimension is called "Openness to the Other", the second dimension is "Belief" and the last dimension is called "Openness to Individual Change". As a result of the analyzes carried out in the study, it was determined that the "Experience of Encountering Differences (FAKAD) Scale", which was developed for an understanding of religious education based on the philosophy of mutual understanding (Teâruf), is a valid and reliable tool that can be used to collect data in studies in the field.
