Notes The COVID-19 pandemic has had a notable impact on the education system worldwide, including Algerian universities. In Algeria, this change has led to a profound paradigm shift in the education system, and in this context online learning has proven to be a central component. This article uses interviews with DaF experts from the universities of Oran 2 and Algiers 2 to clearly show how the online teaching model has developed during the pandemic at Algerian universities and what influence it has had on education and students. An outlook on the future of online teaching at Algerian universities is also presented. Possible developments and adjustments with regard to hybrid teaching methods, the development of digital skills and the definition of quality standards for digital education are discussed. This will help define and develop the importance of online teaching as an important part of the education system in Algeria.
