Notes The science of psychology emerged in the second half of the 1700s and had the function of filling the gap in the religious field. The starting point of modern psychology was the doctrine of original sin and the West's pessimistic view of humanity, which is why there were problems in understanding the human enigma. Failure to analyze people correctly has led to the emergence of wrong prescriptions. However, with the emergence of transpersonal psychology and later the positive psychology approach, it became clear that it was important to turn to the spiritual field. After this process, it is seen that ancient spiritual traditions centered on Taoism and Hinduism began to be used in psychological therapy and well-being. However, studies on Islamic spirituality have not been conducted in the field of psychology for many years. At this point, Malik Badri's and Rajhid Skinner's studies within the scope of Islamic Psychology, Robert Frager's theoretical and practical studies on Sufi therapy, Mustafa Merter's theoretical and practical studies and dream analysis studies within the scope of soul psychology, and the Spirituality Psychology symposiums launched in 2014 under the leadership of Erciyes University are important studies. When we look at the history of studies on psychology in the Islamic world, in the process that started with Al Kindi, the studies of Belhî, who is considered the first Muslim psychiatrist, on anxiety and depression therapy, Ibn Sina and Farabi's determinations about child and adolescence psychology, Ghazali's putting forward the conditioned reflex theory centuries before Skinner, the important name of Behaviorist Psychology, Mevlana's stories and comments in his Mesnevi that transcend the ages and the science of psychology, İbrahim Hakkı Erzurumî's. The medical and psychological findings in Marifetnâme, and the definitions and findings of modern psychology that exceed human imagination in Abdürrezzak Kâşâni's commentary, show that psychology is not actually new in the Islamic world. It is high time for modern psychology, which has been cold towards Islam and Muslim scientists for many years, to research and benefit from these values that are important to itself. It is necessary to re-evaluate the verses of the Quran regarding the soul, heart and spirit within the framework of ishari interpretations and reinterpret the Mesnevi in a psychological sense. This study is about the birth of psychology, past studies on psychology in the Islamic world, and contributions to the field of psychology from recent times to the present.
