Notes
Prophet Muhammad lived in a geography where Arabic language and culture dominated. Muhammad (pbuh); He benefited from local culture when determining his words and behaviors. In order to speak effectively, he used exclamation sentences in which emotions, excitement and enthusiasm were expressed in a concise way, and concise compositions that gave sincere messages to the addressees. So much so that it became a prophetic style to say compound words to the companions who undertook important duties in critical times, and to two companions who relieved their distress during the war, "May my father and my mother be sacrificed for you!" he called out. Since the companions liked this attitude that honored people, they used the same combination against themselves and each other. Sacrificing one's parents in order to gain the appreciation and favor of the interlocutor is a strong, impressive example of sincerity. However, “May my mother and father be sacrificed for you!” It should be questioned whether this word, which is translated into Turkish as, is a composition specific to Islamic culture. “O Messenger of Allah, may my life/mother and father be sacrificed for you!”, which has been heard frequently lately. Can the lyrics be considered as a continuation of the same effect? In this article, based on the data in basic sources, with a historical approach, the ways of using the word from past to present will be determined and whether it will be harmful to use it today will be discussed.
