Notes The main purpose of the psychology of religion course is; "It is to understand and try to explain the individual's religious life in all its breadth and depth." The ability of the psychology of religion course to achieve this goal is related to the attitudes of students in the faculties of theology towards this course. It is known that there is a relationship between students' attitudes towards courses and their academic success, that students with a positive attitude towards the course are more easily motivated to learn, while those with a negative attitude lose interest in the course. In this context, investigating the attitudes of theology faculty students towards the psychology of religion course appears as an important issue. One of the main reasons for examining attitudes is that it allows predicting behaviors. An attempt is made to understand the intensity of people's attitudes by determining their degree of interest or indifference towards certain things. For this purpose, it was aimed to develop a scale that can be used to determine the attitudes of theology faculty students towards the Psychology of Religion course. It is assumed that knowing the attitudes of the faculty of theology students towards the Psychology of Religion course and revealing their negative attitudes, if any, and their reasons will guide the decisions to be taken to make the course more qualified. The research was conducted in the survey model. The study group consists of 3rd and 4th year students of theology faculties in different provinces. The study group consists of 481 students, 354 of whom are female (73.6%) and 127 of whom are male (26.4%). As a result of the literature review, a pool of 42 items was created, and after receiving expert opinion, the number of items was reduced to 39. The collected data was uploaded to the SPSS 16.0 program and made ready for analysis. In analyzing the data, factor analysis of the scale was performed using the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) technique. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was used to test the accuracy of the factor structure. As a result of the statistical procedures regarding the validity of the scale, the KMO value was 0.965. A KMO value above 0.90 is considered "excellent" for the sample size. It is seen that Bartlett's Test of Sphericity is significant (X2= 11144,785; p lt;.05). The fact that the Bartlett test is significant shows that the data set has a multivariate normal distribution. When the slope plot was examined, it was observed that three factors with eigenvalues greater than one emerged. Since it was seen that the scale had more than one dimension, it was decided to perform rotation. For this purpose, varimax rotation technique was used. As a result of repeated rotation processes, it was seen that 25 items were collected under three factors with eigenvalues greater than 1. When the eigenvalue and variance explanation rates obtained as a result of factor analysis were examined, it was seen that the scale items were collected under three factors with eigenvalues greater than 1. The variance percentages of these factors are respectively; They are 34,078, 19,428 and 16,717. All factors explain 70.223% of the total variance. It was observed that the load values of the items varied between 0.627 and 0.792. Considering the items with the highest loading values under the resulting factors, these factors are; He named it as "Important/Value", "Interest/Like" and "Disapproval/Avoidance". The Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficient of the scale was found to be α=0.97. To determine whether the scale distinguishes those who show the desired behavior from those who do not, the averages of 27% of the lower and 27% of the upper group scores were examined with an independent samples t-test. As a result of the statistical procedures, it was seen that the independent groups t test results between the item average scores of the groups varied between 18.291 and 43.252 and were statistically significant (p < .01) for all items. As a result of examining the correlations of the sub-factors of the scale with each other and with the whole scale, a positive and significant difference was found between the Finding/Valuing dimension of the scale and the Interest/Liking dimension (r = 0.76; p < 0.000); There is a positive and significant difference between the Finding/Evaluating dimension and the Disapproving/Avoiding dimension (r = 0.58; p < 0.000). A positive, significant relationship was detected between the Interest/Liking dimension and the Disapproval/Avoidance dimension (r = 0.64; p < .000). Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was performed to confirm the factor structure of the scale. In the analyses, the fit indices of the scale were; χ2 /df= 2.7; NFI= .98; NNFI= .98; IFI= .98; RFI= .98; CFI= .98; While RMR= .04 values indicate “excellent fit”, GFI= .85 and RMSEA= .07 values indicate “acceptable fit”. When the EFA and CFA results were evaluated as a whole, it was concluded that the "Attitude Scale Towards the Psychology of Religion Course" (DPATÖ) is a valid and reliable scale that can be used to measure attitudes towards the Psychology of Religion course.
