Notes
Gazzali (1058-1111) is one of the scholars who lived during the Seljuk period and made important contributions to the formation of Islamic thought and culture. He was both a student and a teacher at Nizamiye Madrasahs, which were the first regular educational institutions in the Islamic world during his time. Since he is a scientifically versatile scholar, he has also written works on education and training in addition to his studies in various fields. One of the works he wrote in this field is Eyyühe'l-Veled. The work, which has been translated into other languages besides Turkish, is an important work in terms of revealing Gazzali's mindset and pedagogical approach. In this study, it has been examined from a pedagogical perspective and it has been evaluated whether the content, methods and techniques of this work are compatible with today's understanding of education. When the work was analyzed in terms of content, it was seen that it had innovative and pedagogical features, according to the conditions and understanding of education of the period in which it was written; Many similarities have been identified in terms of today's education and training methods. However, it has been seen that there are many recommendations in the work that will shed light on today's understanding of education and that the work is among the important resources that can be used in the field of religious education.
