Notes	The efforts of Ottoman statesmen to spread Western science and science in the country in the 19th century led some intellectuals to become interested in Western intellectual works. These intellectuals began to translate the works of Western philosophers into Turkish from the very beginning of the second half of the 19th century. While most of the works translated in this period consisted of works by philosophers of the Enlightenment Era, almost all of the translations were made from French. In the period when philosophical translations from the West began, there was also a significant increase in translations from the East. The works of Islamic philosophers, especially Ibn Sina and Ghazali, have been translated from Arabic to Turkish. In the 19th century, translations from both the West and the East were not made in a systematic manner, and each translator tried to translate the work he was interested in.
