The concept of radicalism, a concept belonging to contemporary arts, was put forward by French curator and writer-academic Nicolas Bourriaud. This concept, which is also used in the field of sociology, is based on the word "root". Bourriaud, who defines radical as "taking root", sees taking root as a situation that changes, develops and progresses in parallel with experience. Thus, roots are formed later, not from the beginning. The work of art establishes its roots by transitioning from one situation to another, or between different languages, thoughts and cultures, and progresses and develops in this way. In this context, Bourriaud establishes a relationship between radical and translation. The theorist considers the transition made by the radical as a kind of translation. What radical does is to move from one material to another, just like translation. Interlingual translation is, in general terms, a transfer process that enables the transition between two texts, languages (or systems) and cultures. It is to be able to provide the meaning, message and effect (emotion) of a work or text created in a certain language and culture in another language and culture. Radical translation is the displacement of the source while preserving its essence, and taking root in different cultures through language. While Bourriaud makes the analogy between radical and translation, he does not elaborate much on translation and does not take a translationological approach, so there is a need to qualify this analogy with theoretical discourses in terms of translation. The aim of this study is to look at the conceptual relationship of radikan and translation from the perspective of translation studies, to consolidate and detail this relationship, and to define the concept of radikan translation that emerged in this context.
