This article aims to show the arguments expressed by Nasîrüddin et-Tûsî (d. 672/1274) on how the relationship between eternal causes and subsequent event malfunctions, revealed by the cosmological explanation model of Avicenna (d. 428/1037), can be established philosophically. Tûsî's general evaluations regarding this issue can be found in his correspondence with Najm al-Din al-Kâtibi (d. 675/1276) about the proof of necessary existence. However, in these correspondences, Tusi only touches upon the nature of the issue from the perspective of some theologians. His approach and solution suggestions regarding this issue from the perspective of Avicenna and philosophy can be followed through his work called Risâle fi'l-'illeti't-tâmme, whose critical publication and also its translation are presented in this article. The first of Tusi's evidence regarding the issue in question in this treatise is not the existence of eternal causes or direct hadith; It follows that it is the principle of preparation on which the existence of the hadith depends. In this kind of causal process, eternal causes do not necessitate the existence of the event at once. Based on this argument, Tusi offers an explanation showing that actual beings are both based on eternal causes and came into existence later in time.
