The idea that a person is obliged to make himself moral has an important place in Kant's philosophy. The way to do this is for the person to be a rational-autonomous individual; In other words, it means using one's freedom. One has moral duties towards oneself, and one can only be a moral agent if one lives in accordance with these duties. However, it is seen that the person does not act in this direction, sometimes due to his flawed nature and sometimes deliberately. This is related to whether a person's will is determined by the moral law or by the principle of self-interest. Kant says that people should act according to the idea of freedom and that their will should be determined by the moral law, not by emotional tendencies or external elements. There is a linear relationship between Kant's aforementioned moral philosophy and his approach to education. A search for how to develop a person's moral character is extremely important from an educational perspective. Therefore, Kant states that the main purpose of academic life is to raise good characters. Kant's approach on this issue constitutes the main discussion area of this article. This study aims to examine the problem from a Kantian perspective.
