A treatise on music by Abū Manṣūr al-Ḥusayn ibn Muḥammad Ibn Zaylah (Abu Mansur al-Husayn ibn Muhammad ibn Zaylah, d. 440/1048-49), a disciple of Ibn Sīnā (Avicenna, latinised as Avicenna, 980-1037). It deals with the definitions of music, notes, and their relationships; rhythm; the composition of melodies; and instruments.
The present copy was completed on the first of Jumādá I 1073/12 Dec 1662 and collated in the city of Kashmir (Srinagar), 'the heart-pleasing' (Dalpdhir) on 25 Muḥarram 1074/29 August 1663 (see

The book Al-Kafi fi Al-Musiqi by Abu Mansour bin Zaila. Sheikh Abu Mansour Al-Hussein bin Muhammad bin (!) Omar said
Bin Zaila's science of music includes two studies, one of which is research on the conditions of tonality in terms of harmony and dissonance
The second is the search for the magnitudes of the times interspersed between the tones, which is called the science of rhythm, and it is obtained from these two searches
Knowing how to compose melody...
Ends (f. 236v, lines 6-8):
...and removes the finger from the hole
Which is close to that tone to an extent that produces the tone that you need, and all the other tunes are found in this
