A commentary by ʿIṣmat Allāh ibn Aʿẓam ibn ‘Abd al-Rasūl al-Sahāranfūrī (Ismat Allah ibn Azm ibn Abd al-Rasul al-Saharanfūrī, or Sahāranpūrī [Saharanپوری], d. ca 1690, see f. 127r, line 4) on the popular
Summa of Arithmetic
(Summary of Account) by Bahā’ al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Ḥusayn al-‘Āmilī (Bahā al-Dīn Muhammad ibn Husayn al-Amili; d. 1621).
The text of the commentary was completed on 19 Dhū al-Ḥijjah 1086/5 March 1676 (f. 127r, lines 2-3) and the present copy was finished on 10 Muḥarram 1105/11 September 1693 (the scribe gives 1505 in error) in the town of Jaljalah, a suburb of Bijapur in the Deccan, during the reign of ʿAlamgīr (Aurangzeb, reg. 1658-1707). It was copied by the scribe ʿAbd al-Bāqī ibn al-Qāḍī Muḥammad ʿĀshiq (Abdul Baqi ibn al-Qadi Muhammad Ashiq), an inhabitant of the citadel of Fīrūzpūr (see

Begins (f. 2v, lines 1-3):

And blessings and peace be upon the one whose appearance dispersed the people of transgression and tyranny, and whose arrival brought justice to the people of immorality.
And disbelief and upon his family, whose effort weakens the true religion and destroys its enemies...
Ends: (f. 126v, line 16-127r, line 1):
...This is as the Sheikh recommended in Al-Isharat
By being stingy about teaching wisdom to those who are not skilled in signs, if the addressee is not skilled in this
