Notes Extensive treatise on cookery by the Andalusian scholar Ibn Razīn al-Tujībī (Ibn Razīn al-Tujībī, d. 1293). The folios have been bound out of order and should be read in the following sequence: ff. 101r-130v, 137r-148v, 131r-136v, 149r-169v, 203r-204v, 170r-173v, 179r-179v, 174r-178v, 180r-202v (see Best of Selectable Foods and Dishes from al-Andalus and al-Maghrib , ed. andtrans. by Nawal Nasrallah [Leiden, Boston: Brill, 2021], p. xxviii). The copy is defective at end and ends abruptly with recipes calling for tuna. Beginnings (f. 101r, lines 2-4): Praise be to God, who has favored the human species over all creation and bestowed upon it an advantage Say, “Msaz (?) forbade the adornment of God which He brought out His loved ones (?) and the medicinal provision of the provision which He expanded He bestowed upon His servants His blessings. Ends (f. 204v, lines 19-25, defective at end): other color You take as much of the tuna as you want and put it in iron baskets and distort them As I mentioned to you, you mix it with salt, oil, pureed broth, and crushed garlic And pepper and cinnamon until it turns red and you can eat it as well if you want You can make it in oil and cooked garlic, so do what you want and it will be delicious God willing Another color of dried figs is called linoleum
