Notes
The author's 166-leaf work, consisting of the commentary of Surahs Nisa, Maida, En'am and Qadr, as well as explanations compiled from hadiths and Sufi explanations of the verses. The only existing copy of the work is registered in the Süleymaniye Library (Hacı Mahmud Efendi, nr.1758). On the title page of the work (leaf 1a), the name of both the author and the work is written as Mecâlis-i Hazreti Mısrî Halîfe-i Ümmi Sinan Elmalı -kuddise sirruhümâ, and it is read that the work is named "mecâlis" (Niyâzî-i Mısrî, Mecâlis, Süleymaniye Library and Hacı Mahmud Efendi Collection, nr: 1758, p.1a.). The work has a cardboard binding, its spine and edges are made of beige leather, and there are a total of 13 to 19 lines on each page. The work is written in naskh script, rarely with vowels, and an index section about its content is included at the beginning (sheets 1b-6a). It is extremely simple in terms of decoration and does not contain any visuals such as illumination, maps or miniatures. The pages of the work are complete, the writings are legible and in good condition. The texts are written in black ink, some words or sentences are scribbled with black or red ink, and the characters are usually written in red and rarely in black. Based on this, it can be thought that the author made corrections after writing the work, but did not have the chance to clean it again. The name of the author is written at the beginning of the manuscript, and the date information regarding the waiver record (4 Muharrem 1076/17 July 1665) is included at the end. The work, which is considered to be the Niyâzî-i Mısrî line, is similar to the other works of the author both in terms of style and the method and content of the work (Aşkar 1997: 121; Aşkar 2007: 167; Erdoğan 1998: CLXVIII-CLXIX; Kusursuz 2016: 22-27). Aşkar (1997: 121), written by Niyâzî-i Mısrî during his exile on the Island of Limni, is in Bursa Ancient and Manuscripts Library, Sultan Orhan Library, no. He states that the character of the writings in the diary dated 690, which definitely belongs to him, is the same as the writing in this work. The fact that the work does not refer to any author after the date of Niyâzî-i Mısrî's death or does not include quotes from works of later dates proves the possibility that the work was written in Mısrî's era. The only chapter that can be considered not to belong to Niyâzî-i Mısrî is the commentary of the Nisâ sura, which provides Sufi interpretations and advice. It is thought that this section was added to the work later (Aşkar 1997: 121; Kusursuz 2016: 28). Surah Nisâ, which is thought to have been added later, is not included in the index that starts with Surah Maida. In the work, footnotes, appendices and corrections are noticeable with the reference to Mısri. The commentary begins after leaf 7b, which is the continuation of the index section (leaves 1b-6a). The commentary of Surah An-Nisa, which is thought to have been added to the work between 7b-26b later; The commentary of Surah al-Maidah on pages 27a-76a; The commentary of Surah An'am in sheets 76a-156a; On 156 b pages, there is a waiver record stating that Surah An'am was completed on the 4th day of Muharram (Friday) in 1076 H. (1665/66 A.D.); 157a is empty; Only one couplet on leaf 157b; 158a-160a Additions about Maidah Surah; The commentary of the Surah Qadr on pages 160b-164b; Interpretation of several verses from Surah Yunus, starting from the half of 164b until the last leaf, 166a; There are some jurisprudential explanations about Eid, Fitre and Fasting. After that, the commentary is completed and the work ends by giving the name of the author of the work on the hatime page of the manuscript (Kusursuz 2016: 32). In the first pages of the work, the author stated that he benefited from "Kādî, Ebü'l-Leys, Vâhidî, Bahrü'l-'ulûm, Tefsîru Hakā'ik, Şeyhzâde and Celâleyn" while interpreting the verses, and also stated his sources in the field of exegesis (Mecâlis, p. 29a-30b.).
