Notes
The tâlîkat written in Arabic by Şeyh Galib (d. 1171/1757- d. 1213/1799) in the treatise titled et-Tuhfetü'l-Behiyye fi't-Tarîkati'l-Mevleviyye by Kösec Ahmed Dede (d. 1191/1777).Yenikapı In this work, which he wrote after completing his ordeal in the Mevlevi Lodge and receiving the caliphate from Ali Nutkî Dede, it is seen that Sheikh Galib explains many Sufi issues, as well as subjects such as asceticism, sema', dhikr, sheikh-disciple etiquette, within the scope of Mevlevi etiquette and customs. It is noticed that Sheikh Galib, who draws attention to the details regarding the etymological origins of some concepts in et-Tuhfetü'l-Behiyye in the work, tries not to extend the word by including many couplets, stanzas and ruba'is while expressing and explaining his thoughts. More Piri Hz. It is understood that Galib, who, although belonging to Mevlana, also included the Persian, Arabic and Turkish speeches of various Sufis, continued the Ottoman written language tradition, which was formed under the influence of the Turkish-Arabic-Persian cultural basins. It is seen that Şeyh Galib, who was concerned about breaking new ground in poetry, maintained this direction in his Es-Sohbetü's-Sâfiyye, which he wrote in prose. In this context, the issues he expressed for the first time in Mevlevi etiquette and customs literature make the work in question very important. One of these is that it reveals a multi-layered understanding of sainthood within Mevlevi order. In this understanding, which has no equivalent when the literature of Mevlevi etiquette and rituals is examined, the disciple gains a certain status of salik according to the way he is initiated into Mevlevi order. There are differences in the manners that these devotees, called murid, munib and muhib, must comply with (Sheikh Ghalib, vr. 8a). On the other hand, in the work, Şeyh Galib's comments about the Mevlevi ritual as well as his views on the elements that make it up are remarkable. For example, Devr-i Veledî, according to Şeyh Galib, has a seven-stage structure in which he also adds na't-i şerîf, ney taksim, kudüme beat and Mesnevi description. With this seven-stage structure, Devr-i Veledî is equivalent to etvâr-ı seb'a in Sheikh Galib's perspective, and each stage has a counterpart in the divine names. Similarly, he connects Devr-i Veledî with the Nakşî principles called the holy words (Şeyh Gâlib, vr. 11b-12a). In addition to all these, the work also contains important data in terms of determining Sheikh Galib's Sufi thoughts. The translation of the work, which is in manuscript form in various collections, by Ahmed Remzi Akyürek, under the name Nüshatü'ş-şâfiye, was summarized and published by İbrahim Kutluk (1948).
