Notes Şerhu'l Kasîdeti'l-Mîmiyye is the first commentary written on İbnü'l-Fâriz's ode called Mîmiyye (Hamriyye). Dâvûd-ı Kayseri wrote this commentary upon the request of a friend, after the commentary of İbnü'l-Fâriz's Taiyye ode (731/1330-31[?]). Accordingly, the date of writing corresponds to the years 732/1331-32. The commentary, whose language is Arabic, was written by Abdülkâfî b., who is estimated to be one of the Ilkhanid viziers. It was dedicated to Abdullah et-Tabrizî. The work consists of an introduction and a commentary section. Kayseri, who states that understanding the ode will be possible by knowing the true love, discusses this subject under the headings "the truth of love", "parts of love" and "results of love" before starting the commentary. Kayseri generally started every work he commented on with an introduction. Since the introductions he wrote were considered as independent treatises, they were copied by scribes as separate works under different names. The introduction that the poet wrote to the Mîmiyye ode is known as Risâletün fî-Ma'rifeti'l-Mahabbeti'l-Hakîkiyye, Kitâbün fî-Ma'rifeti'l-Mahabbeti'l-İlâhiyye and Kitâbün fi'l-Mahabbe (Kayseri 1997). İbnü'l-Fâriz's Only 33 couplets of the ode, which consists of 41 couplets, have been interpreted from a Sufi and philosophical perspective, with an understanding that addresses the issue of existence on the axis of Divine love, in line with the theory of existence. This commentary of Kayseri, who adopted the understanding of unity of body of Sufis such as Ibn al-Arabî and Abdürrezzâk Kâşânî, continued its influence in the following centuries. Instead of explaining all the words after each couplet, Kayseri gave meaning to the words that would contribute to the understanding of the couplet, and then annotated the couplets in line with the understanding in the introduction. Kayseri benefited from many verses and hadiths during his commentary. In addition, he used all kinds of words and writings, both in verse and prose, that could clarify the subject. İbnü'l-Fârız, Sühreverdî, Ebu Nuvâs, Cüneyd-i Bağdâdî, Ebubekr-i Şiblî, Hassan b. Sâbit and Mihyâr Deylemi are some of them. This commentary written by Kayseri was taken as an example by the Arabic, Persian and Turkish commentaries written on the Hamriyye ode. Kara Mustafa Hulûsî Alâiyevî's (d.1304/1886) Leme'âtü'l-Berkiyye fî-Şerhi His commentary called Kasîdeti'l-Mîmiyye is one of them (For other commentaries, see İnce 2008). As Kâtip Çelebî stated, the work is one of the best commentaries written on the Hamriyye ode (1941: 1338). As a matter of fact, the frequent use of this work by later commentators shows his competence in this field. There are many manuscript copies of the work in Turkey and abroad. Approximately 20 copies have been identified in the Süleymaniye Library alone (İnce 2018: 23). Bayraktar published it under the name "Şerhu'l-Kasîdeti'l-Mîmiyye Li Dâvûdi'l-Kayseri" based on two copies in Süleymaniye (Süleymaniye, 1028/28, vr. 322a-337a and Reşit Efendi, 858, vr. 179b-192b). (1991). Turan Koç and Mehmet Çetinkaya translated it into Turkish under the name "Love Wine and Life, Kasîde-i Hamriyye Commentary" (2011).
