Notes Persian-Turkish compilation dictionary created by Hâlis based on written and oral sources. According to the study (Güneş 2020), although the work has different names, its correct name is Mecme'u'l-Emsâl and its title is Sihr-kâr-ı Kalem. While creating the work, an order seen in dictionary procedures was not followed. They are arranged in alphabetical order in 32 letters, divided into chapters, and the headings within the chapters are titled according to their alphabets. There are approximately 10865 headings in the work under 95 headings of 32 letters. More than 9700 references were made in the articles, and around 183 written and 9 oral source names were mentioned. There are around 4200 testimonies, mostly in Persian verse, with prose quotations, parables, Arabic and Turkish couplets, some of which appear in more than one place. The affiliation of 290 witnesses is unclear (Güneş 2020: 50-51). Among the witnesses, the most are Persian poems and poems. Mecme'u'l-Emsâl is an important source for the comparative examination of the vocabulary of Turkish, Persian and Persian poetry. In the work; primarily Kitâb-ı Şehrî and Gulî-yi Mîrek, Nevâdiru′l-Emsâl-i Mîrek, Destûru′l-Amel-i Rıyâzî, İntihâb-ı Neşâtî, Mecmû’a-i Azmîzâde Hâletî, Şerh-i Kâmî-yi 182 written sources, including Edrinevî, were used. Hâlis quoted completely the information from some sources such as Destûru′l-Amel-i Riyâzî, Kitâb-ı Şehrî ve Gulî-yi Mîrek, Nevâdiru′l-Emsâl-i Mîrek, Destûr-ı Şu'ûrî. The writing of the work was completed in 1143/1731. 15 copies were identified and kept in the Topkapı Palace Manuscripts Library, Trust Treasury No. 2027, Yusuf Ağa Manuscript Library No. A doctoral study was conducted on the work based on the copies registered in 5550 (Güneş 2020).
