Notes
Arabic commentary written by İbnü'l-Kemâl on İbnü'l-Fâriz's Hamriyye kaside. İbnü'l-Kemâl, who did not write any introduction to his work, moved on to the annotation after the bismillah and continued the tradition of annotating only 33 couplets of the ode consisting of 41 couplets. Unlike previous commentators such as Kayseri, Hemedânî, Bitlîsî and Câmî, who focused on the mystical and spiritual meaning of the ode, Ibn al-Kemâl examined the ode mostly in terms of language and grammar, emphasized the meanings and meanings of the words, and sometimes explained the features related to rhetoric. For this reason, although he used quotes from verses and hadiths, he mostly consulted the opinions of language and rhetoric scholars such as İbnü's-Sikkît, Cevherî, Zemahşerî, Râgıbü'l-İsfehânî, Mutarrizî, İbnü Hisham and especially Cevherî. He recorded the different meanings that these sources gave to the words and criticized them, and expressed his opinion on which one would be more accurate by consulting the authorities who have a say in this field (İnce 2018: 28-31). One of the names that İbnü'l-Kemâl particularly criticized was Mollâ Câmî (d. 1492), who had previously commented on the ode. Throughout the commentary, without naming names, Ibn al-Kemal pointed out the view put forward by Câmî with sentences starting with "men kâle..., men vehime..." (the person who says..., the person who thinks...), and then rejected Câmî's views in 22 places with the evidence he presented. In order to prevent his refutations from remaining in the air, he quoted from works that are considered authorities in this field (İnce 2019: 131-132). A master's thesis (Konur) was prepared in 1992 and a doctoral thesis was prepared in 2018 (İnce) on the work, which has many manuscript copies. An investigative publication of the work was made in 2011 (Makbûl). For the poet's biography, see. “İbn Kemâl, Kemâlpaşa-zâde”.Turkish Literature Names Dictionary.
