Notes A poetic work in the form of a travelogue written by Abdurrahman Nâcim Efendi (d. 1312/1895), the son of Mehmed Bey, one of the notables of Süleymaniye, in which he describes the places on the Istanbul-Diyarbakır route, the distances between settlements and the conditions of these places. It was first reported by İbnü'l-Emin Mahmud Kemal that the work belonged to Abdurrahman Nâcim Efendi and that it was incorporated at the end of the work called Gülzâr-ı Âsâr, which was published in Beirut in 1309/1891. However, İbnü'l-Emin probably mistakenly transferred the name of the work called Gülzâr-ı Âsâr as "Gülzâr-ı Edeb" (1969: II, 1057). Aruz was written in the form of "fâ'ilâtün fâ'ilâtün fâ'ilün", in mesnevi verse form and in Persian. Râh-nâme-i Diyarıbekir consists of 238 couplets. This poetic work, dated April 27, 1885, is very valuable as it has the feature of travelogue and menazilname. As understood from the work, Abdurrahman Nâcim Efendi, who was appointed as the head of the Diyarbakır court of appeal in 1302/1886, set out from Istanbul and reached Diyarbakır via the Black Sea, Samsun, Havza, Amasya, Tokat, Sivas, Yenihan (Yıldızeli), Hekimhan, Malatya, Harput, Maden and Ergani, respectively. In this work, Abdurrahman Nâcim Efendi's impressions of the villages, towns and provinces he visited during his journey, and his opinions about the administrators he met, were recorded in a literary manner. In the words of Ahmet Sevgi, "we believe that it would be a great service if someone who is a competent person translates this work into Turkish, on which there has been no scientific study to date" (Sevgi 2022).
