Notes
It is the work of Ahmed Sâfî, who was affiliated with the Mevlevi sect and known as Sâfî Dede. Câm-ı Muzaffer is the Turkish commentary of Molla Câmî's work titled Risâle fi'l-Arûza (Ekici 2020: 106). Ahmed Sâfî states that he wrote the story and reason for the writing of the work in the introduction section for the convenience of some of his close friends and associates. The commentator annotated the aruz bahirs mentioned in Molla Câmî's work one by one and explained the parts of these bahirs in the work. Ahmed Sâfî used an ornate and artistic language in the introduction section. As seen in the classical works, Câm-ı Muzaffer started with the basmala, praise, salvela, companions and the praise of the four caliphs. Later, Ahmed Safi complimented Abdurrahman Câmî, the author of the Treatise of Aruz, which was the subject of his commentary, which he described as the light of God and religion. In other chapters, he commented on the subjects mentioned above (Ekici 2020: 109). Various methods were applied by the author while annotating the work. The author gave the original text of the sentences in Molla Câmî's work and annotated the words or word groups in these sentences. In addition, he analyzed the words in the text grammatically. While the author was paraphrasing the words, he gave the phonetic register of the words in some places. While some concepts are expounded in the work, both the lexical and terminological meanings of the words are given, and Arabic explanations are also made in some places. The author gave more than one meaning of some words in the work, explained the words in the sentence of the source text one by one, and also mentioned literary arts in the work when necessary. In addition, he annotated the terms reason, veted and fasıla, which were defined and exemplified by Molla Câmî, gave the original of the istishhad couplets related to Câmî's aruz terms, and then preferred to annotate the relevant couplet. He translated the couplets after the word commentary. While explaining the concepts in the work, some poets and their works were also mentioned, and some historical events and beliefs were referred to. While some concepts were explained in the work, information was given about the flowers and animals in the visual world of classical Turkish poetry, and by making quotations from the Quran and hadiths, the author felt the need to bring references from basic Islamic sources to what he said. In the work, concepts related to poetry, literature and rhetoric are explained and information about the rubai mentioned by Molla Câmî in his work is commented on in detail. While explaining some concepts in the work, the author included quotations on the subject and used the narration method (Ekici 2020: 109- 113). In the epilogue section of the work, the author stated the end date of the work and finished his work with a prayer. The work has 158 pages and was printed at the Bulak Printing House in 1267/1850. The manuscript copy of the work could not be found (Ekici 2020: 106). For the biography of the poet, see. “Sâfî, AhmedSâfî, Tokatlı”.Turkish Literature Names Dictionary.
